Colour, sky blue, element, ether or space. Governs, the vocal chords, thyroid and voice.

This chakra is the bridge between our inner self and outer creation. Situated at the throat governs communication.

The element ether is assigned to this chakra and forms the basis for the many layers of existence to interconnect. The etheric realm is that of vibration, frequency and resonance. This centre connects us to all layers of creation, physical, emotional, mental, will, intuition and spirit, through vibration.

Part of the function of this chakra is to develop communication on a subtle level. Intuitive communication takes place on a vibratory level. The finer our sensitivity, the subtler the vibrations we can communicate with. Guides, angels and elemental beings all communicate through vibration.

The throat centre is the gateway between the heart and mind. The throat is literally a bottleneck through which energy has to pass, blockages can occur if there is a knowing within the heart that is not accepted by the mind. When the energy of the heart is allowed to move up through the throat, we are able to express and speak our truth. Truth is a vibration of the universe, to express truth is to be in harmony with the universe.

Also known as the brow or intuitive chakra. Located right between and just above the physical eyes, it corresponds to the space between the eyebrows.

The purpose of this chakra is to integrate our inner and outer experiences, bring understanding to both by by shining the light of wisdom on them. To become aware and conscious we need to focus our minds eye inwards to observe ourselves. The third eye is a vehicle for self reflection and self knowledge. The duality of this chakra is defined by conscious and unconscious existence. We operate consciously when we are aware of our actions. If we want to change our future, we need to first understand and then take responsibility for the fact we created the past and present. This is the beginning of wisdom.

Intuition is a key function of this centre, the feminine nature of mind, operate through openness and receptivity.

This chakra is feminine, intuitive, mysterious and yin.

Colour, indigo,[ dark blue and dark violet ] represents devotion to the truth – idealism, obedience, intuition and perception – and the ability to look to the future. Indigo transmutes and purifies, it is the transformer. When you meditate on the third eye chakra and it becomes fully activated you can successfully destroy the karma of all past lives and become a liberated soul. Intuitional knowledge is obtained through this chakra, it is the seat of primordial power and soul. It is here that yogis consciously place their prana at the time of death. The colour violet represents those who search for the spiritual truth in all life.

The Final stage of the journey that began in the root can now produce our own blossoming flower in the crown chakra. This flowering expression takes the form of a fully integrated consciousness and as such one with the wholeness of the cosmos. Such a flowering occurs within someone whilst they remain deeply rooted to the earth.

Located at the crown of the head , known as the anterior fontanelle, the purpose of the crown chakra is to liberate consciousness from the confinement of self created identity by surrendering to our universal identity. There is a seed of unrealised potential within each one of us, the divine spark, our universal identity, which flowers through the understanding, gained in the crown chakra. Our potential, if realised, is to live in this world knowing that divine spark and letting that seed flower and be here on earth.

The crown chakra is the final gateway through which we emerge as a flower of consciousness that has integrated the lessons contained within the previous chakras. We now have the possibility to know ourselves as an expression of the universe, liberated from self identity.
